Founded in 1897, the Zionist Organization of America (“ZOA”) is the oldest pro-Israel organization in the United States. With offices around the country and in Israel, the ZOA is dedicated to educating the public, elected officials, media, and...

Mahmoud Abbas has provided further proof, if any were needed, that he and the PA he heads have no interest in a genuine peace with Israel, but is only working towards Israel’s destruction. It is perfectly clear that Abbas is simply another Arab terrorist whose goal is Israel’s destruction. His goal is not peace, nor is it a Palestinian state.

The Zionist Organization of America is deeply concerned and critical of President Barack Obama for praising Palestinian Authority (PA) president Mahmoud Abbas as “somebody who has consistently renounced violence, has consistently sought a diplomatic and peaceful solution that allows for two states, side by side, in peace and security” (‘Remarks by President Obama and President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority Oval Office,’ March 17, 2014). Given Mahmoud Abbas’ record of glorifying and praising terrorists and producing a Fatah emblem showing a Kalashnikov rifle and Israel labeled ‘Palestine’ and draped in a Palestinian headdress; naming schools, streets and sports teams after Palestinian terrorists; refusing to accept Israel as a Jewish state or to disband terrorists groups, or to alter the curricula of anti-Israel hate education in Palestinian schools, the ZOA believes such praise for Abbas from the U.S. President is grotesque and unwarranted.

Similarly, the ZOA is deeply concerned and critical of Secretary of State John Kerry for taking an important, bipartisan Israeli requirement for any peace process of explicit Palestinian acceptance of Israel as a Jewish state and publicly opposing it being raised in negotiations to take place between Israel and the PA. Secretary Kerry has claimed, “I think its a mistake for some people to be raising it [recognition of Israel as a Jewish state] again and again as the critical decider of their attitude toward the possibility of a state, and peace, and we’ve obviously made that clear” (Michael Wilner, ‘Kerry: Netanyahu wrong to insist Palestinians recognize Israel as Jewish state,’Jerusalem Post, March 17, 2014).

A great interview on Palestinian Hate Speech with Irwin Cotler, a Canadian Parlamentarian. Here’s a sneak peak:

“My mother used to say to me that ‘life and death is on the tip of the tongue.’ While I was getting this at home, I would be going to school where the refrain was ‘sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me,’” the former Canadian justice minister and attorney general told The Times of Israel during a visit to Jerusalem.

“I learned that wasn’t true; that words can hurt.”

A week after the Israeli cabinet dedicated the bulk of its weekly meeting to Palestinian incitement, the Canadian parliamentarian regrets not having been more vociferous in highlighting what he believes to be widespread, state-sanctioned Palestinian incitement.

“I must admit, I probably haven’t spoken out against it as much as it deserves to be spoken out against. Maybe, like others who wanted to see the peace process sustained and advanced, I didn’t take as strong a position against [Palestinian] hate speech as I should have … I acknowledge this as a failure on my part.”

The ZOA continues to criticize the Obama Administration for it’s refusal to criticize and condemn the Palestinian Authority’s incitement to hatred and murder. Here is why we urge you to do so as well…

We strongly support the Israeli Government giving priority to the issue of Palestinian Authority (PA) incitement to hatred and murder of Jews and demonization of Israel in their schools, TV and radio, newspaper, magazines, sermons, speeches and children’s camps. As a report in the New York Times puts it, according to a new presentation produced by the Israeli government, “Adolf Hitler is quoted on the websites of Palestinian Authority schools. A young girl appears on Palestinian television, describing Jews as ‘barbaric monkeys, wretched pigs’ and the ‘murderers of Muhammad,’ the Islamic prophet. Maps on the Facebook page of the Palestinian presidential guards do not show Israel. President Mahmoud Abbas himself embraced as ‘heroes’ released Palestinian prisoners who killed Israelis.”

In order for the conflict to end and be replaced by a genuine peace, all PA incitement must cease entirely.
