Susan Tuchman, Director of ZOA’s Center for Law and Justice and Mort Klein, ZOA National President, write about an antisemitic SJP event at the University of South Florida.
Last November, USF’s anti-Israel group — the so-called “Students for Justice in Palestine” (SJP) — sponsored a game show competition called “Battle of the Bulls,” modeled on the TV show “Jeopardy!” Seven other student organizations participated, and were asked to answer questions that promoted lies about Jews and Israel.

One Jewish student at the event was so troubled that she complained in a letter to the editor of theOracle. At least one other student filed a formal grievance.

In a March 12, 2014 post on the Israel-bashing website Mondoweiss.net, extremist Max Blumenthal condemned Northeastern University’s recent decision to suspend the so-called “Students for Justice in Palestine” (SJP) group, after the SJP put mock eviction notices under students’ doors in several Northeastern residence halls. The notices contained false and demonizing information about Israel and were calculated to incite hatred of the Jewish State.

The Zionist Organization of America sent a letter yesterday to Dr. Joseph E. Aoun, the president of Northeastern University in Boston, MA, strongly praising Northeastern for promptly and appropriately disciplining the anti-Semitic student group that calls itself “Students for Justice in Palestine” (SJP). At the close of the SJP’s annual anti-Semitic “Israel Apartheid Week,” the SJP put fake “eviction notices” under students’ doors in several of Northeastern’s residence halls. These notices contained false and demonizing information about Israel, calculated to incite hatred of the Jewish State. The “eviction notices” were designed to look genuine, leading some students to believe that they were actually being evicted – during mid-terms. These actions, like previous actions of the SJP, caused alarm and even fear in students, especially Jewish students. Northeastern took strong and decisive action, suspending the anti-Semitic SJP for at least one year; permanently banning its current executive board members from serving on any future board in the organization; mandating training led by university administrators as a condition of reinstatement, and possibly imposing individual sanctions against at least two SJP students, including expulsion.
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is pleased and proud to announce that Brooklyn College President Karen L. Gould issued a public statement last Friday, apologizing in full to the four Jewish students who were forcibly thrown out of an anti-Israel, anti-Semitic boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) event at Brooklyn College on February 7, 2013. The anti-Semitic BDS event was sponsored by an anti-Israel group, the so-called Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and co-sponsored by the political science department. President Gould’s public statement was part of a negotiated settlement between the ZOA and Brooklyn College, facilitated by mediators from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR). No other outside Jewish organization was involved.
