With government support, industry sponsorship and mentors on board, Swidan is launching what appears to be the first true high-tech venture accelerator for Israel’s Arab community.
Based in Nazareth, the new Naztech Accelerator is currently screening a couple of dozen companies to fill 10 to 15 spots in the five-month accelerator program starting early this year.
Swidan is hoping the chosen Arab startups will help kick-start a revolution in Israel. Thousands of high-tech engineers graduate from institutions such as the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, but there is little framework for helping new Arab-run companies get off the ground.
Seven thousand Catholic faithful took part in the International Day of Faith celebrations on Mount Precipice in Nazareth. The festive mass was led by His Beatitude, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Tual.
The event at Mount Precipice included an artistic program that featured choirs from Catholic communities around the world, followed by celebration of the Eucharist. Pilgrims came from Italy, Brazil, Spain, UK , Japan, Poland, the Palestinian Authority and neighboring countries.

A festive mass signaling the closing stages of the Year of Faith – which Pope Benedict XVI declared to run October 11, 2012 – November 24, 2013 – will be led by His Beatitude, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Tual at Mount Precipice in Nazareth. Thousands of Catholic pilgrims from across the globe are expected to take part in the November 17 mass.

Choirs from Catholic communities around the world will precede the Mass. There will also be food and souvenir stalls set up throughout Nazareth.
