Nearly two-thirds of Israelis believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran will succeed in acquiring nuclear weapons, according a Midgam poll taken for the Channel 10 news magazine Hamateh that is to be broadcast Saturday night.

The poll, which was taken in the wake of the Iranian charm offensive, found that 64 percent of Israelis believe Iran will get the bomb, 21% think it will not, and 15% had no opinion.

Asked if they believe Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s statement that Israel would act alone if necessary, 49% said yes, 40% no, and 11% did not express an opinion. Among Likud Beytenu voters, the percentage who believe the prime minister was much higher – 68%. Labor voters believed Netanyahu least: 34%.
