The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has condemned the European Union (EU) for issuing new racist directives this week that state that any Israeli entity that wishes to apply for a “grant, prize or financial instrument” from the EU must first submit a declaration stating that it has no direct or indirect links with Judea, Samaria, Gaza, eastern Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.
The EU directive states that it “does not recognise Israel’s sovereignty over any of the territories … and does not consider them to be part of Israel’s territory, irrespective of their legal status under domestic Israeli law.” The EU guidelines prohibit all 28 member states from funding, cooperating with, awarding scholarships, research funds or prizes to anyone residing in the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria. The guidelines state that only Israeli entities — pubic or private corporations and companies, nongovernmental and not-for profit organizations — “having their place of establishment within Israel’s pre-1967 borders will be considered eligible.”
